چکیده

Introduction The Potomac Formation is a heterogeneous assemblage of ancient river deposits consisting chiefly of unconsolidated and poorly consolidated sands, silts, clays, and small amounts of gravel, along with localized zones of diamictons of uncertain origin. It is the dominant geologic unit in the City of Alexandria. It crops out or is close to the surface everywhere west of Old Town and Del Ray except for a small strip along Holmes Run in the extreme western section of the city, where it has been stripped off by erosion to expose the underlying bedrock. The Potomac Formation also forms the large majority of the Coastal Plain section beneath Old Town and Del Ray, but is covered in that area by thick, younger alluvial deposits of the Potomac River, referred to herein as the “Old Town terrace”.

Constructions of hepatitis C Virus prophylactic vaccine candidate using Berberis vulgaris stimulated and nonstructural protein 3 loaded dendritic cells

Introduction: Dendritic cells (DCs) have been recently employed as carriers for vaccines against several viral infections. The present study was designed to develop a prophylactic vaccine against hepatitis C virus (HCV) using DCs treated with Berberis vulgaris root extract (BRE), as a preclinical study. Methods: BRE was prepared and injected to female BALB/c mice for DCs expansion. The expanded...

Palynostratigraphy, Palaeogeography and Source Rock Evaluation of the Nayband Formation at the Parvadeh area, Central Iran, Iran

The Nayband Formation was measured and sampled in Parvadeh area, southern Tabas city. In this area, this formation has a thickness of 1410 m, dividing into four members, namely Gelkan, Bidestan, Howz-e-sheikh and Howz-e-khan. A total 573 samples were treated for Palynological analysis, and only 120 samples were productive. A total of 57 miospore taxa and 11 plant macrofossil were encountered. B...

Depositional History and Sequence Stratigraphy of the Tirgan Formation (Barremian – Aptian) in the Zavin section, NE Iran

The Tirgan Formation (Barremian – Aptian) is exposed in the Kopet Dagh in northeast Iran. One stratigraphic section in Zavin was measured with a thickness of 110 meters. This Formation in section consists of three parts (including lower carbonate, limy shale – marl and upper carbonate rocks). Based on the study of 94 thin sections, 10 carbonate and 2 siliciclastic lithofacies have been identifi...

Evaluation of the Paleocene-Eocene deposits, Jahrum Formation, base on 2-D seismic data, Central Persian Gulf

The Persian Gulf is part of an asymmetric foreland basin related to the Zagros Orogen. It has been episodically flooded for much of its history which are reflected in sedimentary successions. The evaluation of this succession from depositional trend view, in central Persian Gulf during Paleocene-Eocene, is the aim of this article. The sedimentary rocks physical characteristics effects on seismi...

First record of Gyroconulina columellifera Schroeder & Darmoian, 1977 (larger benthic foraminifera) from the Maastrichtian Tarbur Formation of SW Iran (Zagros Fold-Thrust-Belt)

The larger benthic foraminifera Gyroconulina columellifera Schroeder & Darmoian, 1977 (type-locality: Maastrichtian Aqra Formation of Iraq) is described for the first time from two sections of the Maastrichtian Tarbur Formation of the Zagros Fold-Thrust-Belt, SW Iran. New details on its wall microstructure are provided. The microfacies is represented by bioclastic wacke-/pack-/grainstones with ...
